How to borrow

  • Current library Associate Membership and a Campus Card (ID) are required to borrow items.
  • Use the University of Auckland Catalogue to find and locate available books. Online resources, e.g. e-books are accessible from a University of Auckland library computer only.
  • Visit and borrow from any University of Auckland Library, including Philson Library.
  • Request books be delivered to Greenlane and community sites via the internal mail.
  • Another library member may borrow on your behalf, see proxy patron service.

What you can borrow and for how long

Journals

  • Most journals, including all unbound journals, are for use within the relevant library only.
  • Most print journals in the Philson Library may not be borrowed.
  • Borrowable journals are usually 3 day or 7 day loans and may not be renewed.
  • Journals in On-Demand Collection may be borrowed for the standard loan period.

Philson Short Loan items

  • Items in Short Loan collections are usually issued for 2 hours
  • They may be renewed twice.
  • Some items are available for 3, 5 or 7 day loans. These are not usually renewable.

New Zealand Reference Collection (Philson Library)

  • Ask at the Philson Library Lending Desk.
  • To be used in the library only.

Videos

  • Usually 7 days.

Missing Items

  • Ask for assistance if you are unable to locate an item on library shelves.
  • You may have the library contact you if a missing item is found.
  • If we don't have the item you want, request it and we'll obtain it from elsewhere.
  • The Catalogue indicates when items are temporarily unavailable.
